Xia Suay

Origin: Hokkien and Teochew – a term to describe embarrassment or disgrace.

Xia Suay is often used to describe a person or a situation where there is embarrassment or disgrace caused by the person or actions by that person.

Noun:

Example: “Look at the shabby attire my uncle is wearing for my wedding, he is such a xia suay”

Example: “Just now I could not control myself and farted in a public bus; everyone looked at me……It was so xia suay for me.”
