Semula

Semula

Origin: Malay – it means “from the start”

Semula is a term frequently used by BMT instructors of the Singapore Army.

It is used in scenarios e.g. punishments where the instructor wants the recruits to restart from what they were doing due to a mistake by some if not all of the recruits.

Adverb:

Sergeant: “Whole lot knock it down and give me 20!”

Recruits doing pushups: “One…sergeant, two….sergeant, three….sergeant.”

Sergeant: “Semula!!! No count!!! You guys did not ask for my permission to carry on!!
