Origin: Hokkien- means feigning illness or physical injury

Chao Keng is a commonly used term when describing someone for feigning illness or injury in order to avoid a duty/responsibility. This term is often used in the Army and at workplaces. It is synonymous to the english word “malinger”.

Ah Beng: “Ahmad…how?? I don’t wanna go field camp next weekend…I wanna go meet my girlfriend…to sort out our BGR problems….

Ahmad: “How? I tell you hor…you better don’t chao keng and keng MC hor….Be a man and don’t sabo us ok???
